Instructions - Introduction

Enrollment for the Language Bank

The Language Bank is a free service provided by the Rutgers University School of Arts and Sciences that is designed to meet the translation needs of non-profit organizations, social justice efforts, and the local community. We focus on addressing translation needs for these groups and in doing so, offer our volunteers the opportunity to engage with and further serve the community.

How does the Language Bank work? Organizations submit a description of a translation project, along with the language(s) and date(s) needed. The Language Bank Coordinator will then sort through the database to offer the job to volunteer translators who meet the criteria for the translation.  Click here to see how the workflow works. There is no cost for this service.

These are the types of account that you can create:

  • Non-Rutgers Organizations: if you are an organization outside Rutgers that needs to request translation or interpreting services.
  • Non-Rutgers Student: if you are a student from another college or University and you want to translate or interpret.
  • Non-Rutgers Volunteer: if you are a member of the community and you want to translate or interpret.
  • Rutgers Student: f you are a Rutgers student from another college or University and you want to translate or interpret.
  • Rutgers Faculty: if you are a Rutgers student or Faculty you can either be a translator, interpreter, a reviewer of translators' work, or a requester of translation or interpreting services.
