My name is Fab Ian Duenas.
I am a Rutgers University graduate with an Exercise Science major and a Psychology minor. My areas of interest include exercising, playing instruments, and conversing with strangers.
I was born and raised in the Philippines. My family immigrated to the States when I was only 11 years old. Growing up in an archipelago, I was naturally always fond of beaches. On the other hand, the deep blue ocean was one of my greatest fears. I often pondered how deep the waters went. These were one of the fears that controlled me. One day, my family decided to go out on a boat ride. Weary from rowing the oars, my father jumped into the ocean and asked me and my brothers to join. My brothers didn’t hesitate. At that moment, I decided to stand on the shaky boat, close my eyes, and jump into the deep, dark unknown.
I decided to seek discomfort.
That experience taught me that growth can only truly happen through discomfort.
