Course Syllabus

The 3D Printing Workshop will teach you the fundamentals of 3D Printing and introduce you to 3D design with TinkerCAD. It will also cover considerations needed when designing for 3D Printing. For this workshop, you will design and submit a cell phone stand which will be printed at the Rutgers Makerspace and mailed out to you.

If this is your first time accessing this workshop, we recommend you start at the beginning:

Introduction

Important terminology will be highlighted in bold throughout the workshop for ease of reference. A full list of terms can be found in the Index of Terms located in the Introduction module.

Below is an outline of the modules in the workshop with descriptions and links to each.

3D Printing and Additive Manufacturing Methods will teach you the basic foundational information about what 3D Printing is, the type of methods used to 3D print, and the process of taking an idea and making it a 3D printed part.

Design for 3D Printing will review the best practices of designing parts for 3D printing and teach you design considerations that are crucial to getting the best results out of 3D printed parts.

3D Design with TinkerCAD will teach you the basics of designing with the TinkerCAD program.

Design Project: Cell Phone Stand will guide you through designing and customizing your cell phone stand design which you will submit for printing.
