Rutgers Arts Online Links to an external site. delivers high-quality arts education anywhere, anytime, online to the Rutgers community and students around the globe. As the largest online program at Rutgers University, Rutgers Arts Online offers courses in music, dance, theater, filmmaking, and art and design. All of our courses are taught by artists and professionals and are accredited by Middle States Commission on Higher Education (MSCHE).

Who can take classes?
Our courses are open to Rutgers students and alumni, students from another university or institution; elementary, middle and high school educators who are required to regularly complete continuing education units (CEUs), and members of the general public.
Matriculated and non-matriculated students may take courses through Rutgers Arts Online. Non-matriculated students must fill out Rutgers Arts Online application.

Core SAS
The School of Arts and Sciences (SAS) requires that all students complete a goal-based Core Curriculum, as well as an approved major and an approved minor for students who are not pursuing credit-intensive majors.

Option 2 provides students with the opportunity to earn credits in a more personalized and independent manner, rather than the traditional “in-the-seat” course enrollment option. Option 2 offers alternative paths to high school credits that meet or exceed the New Jersey Student Learning Standards and are based on student interest or career goals.
The New Jersey Performing Arts Center (NJPAC) and Rutgers University, with support from the Pabst Steinmetz Foundation, have developed affordable, accessible online education courses to build capacity for intentional application of arts and culture to improve individual and collective health. This education resource is intended to help arts, health, and allied practitioners provide arts programming for health promotion and well-being.
