Community Health Preventive Screening & Education Course - RHSC x APSEA

WELCOME!

We are excited to have you join us on this important journey to expand your knowledge and skills in community health. Developed in partnership with the Rutgers Health Service Corps (RHSC) and the American Preventive Screening and Education Association (APSEA), this course is designed to equip you with the tools to provide impactful health screenings and education in your community.

Throughout this course, you will engage in a variety of interactive modules that cover key preventive health topics. From learning how to measure vital signs to understanding the importance of early detection, our goal is to empower you to make a difference in public health. We look forward to supporting your growth as you become a vital part of improving health outcomes in your community.

LEARNING OBJECTIVES

After completing this training, participants will:

  1. Understand the basics of health screenings, including the importance of measuring key vital signs such as blood pressure, heart rate, and BMI.
  2. Conduct accurate health screenings and interpret results to identify potential health risks.
  3. Educate community members on the theoretical foundations of chronic conditions such as diabetes and hypertension.
  4. Promote preventive lifestyle changes, including healthy nutrition, physical activity, and wellness habits.
  5. Understand and apply preventive care guidelines to help individuals reduce the risk of chronic diseases.
  6. Develop communication skills for patient interaction, including cultural competency and ethics in community health settings.
  7. Confidently participate in community health initiatives aimed at improving health outcomes and access to care.
