Abstract: Using data compiled by the New Jersey Coordination Center’s (NJCC) Forensic Evaluation Quality Improvement Study, this study examined common practices in evaluations regarding service recommendations and their relation to allegations/ referrals. Areas this study explored included the frequency of recommendations for evidence-based services, the use of evidence to inform recommendations, and best practices regarding service load and sequencing. The results have implications related to the integration of high-quality targeted service recommendations into evaluations.

Abstract: Many psychological assessment tools include one or more validity scales to determine whether a client’s responses can be considered valid. However, there are other threats to validity that are often overlooked while conducting forensic psychological evaluations. Using data compiled by the New Jersey Coordination Center’s (NJCC) Forensic Evaluation Quality Improvement Study, this study aims to explore common validity issues in forensic psychological evaluations for child welfare cases as well as the prevalence of these validity issues.

Abstract: Using data compiled by the New Jersey Coordination Center’s Forensic Evaluation Quality Improvement (NJCC-FEQI) Study, we explore the most commonly utilized forensic psychological evaluations (e.g., psychological, psychosocial, and parenting capacity) routinely requested by child welfare workers. Characteristics of forensic report components, including referral question(s), assessment tools, collaterals, background information, and recommendations (which are required according to professional forensic assessment guidelines from NJ-DCF, APA, APSAC, AFCC), and the relationship to a quality evaluation will be explored.
