I love learning and school has always been my happy place.
I have a B.A. in Sociology with a minor in Anthropology. I’ve completed half a dozen certification programs in various areas of performance over the span of my career. Most of them offered by my employer to fulfill competencies in my role at the company with one exception – Certified Association Executive – which I had intended to practice until I decided a second act in adult education would suit me best. Which leads me to my career path.
I have worked for almost every sector, from government to private to nonprofit and now a publicly held company. Over the years, I have held roles in information services and technology until I paused for a mid-life retrospective of my career two years ago and realized what I had loved most and done best were my collateral duties to train and guide others on the use of new technologies, policies, and practices.
My teaching experience includes designing, developing and delivering on-premise, distance, and self-paced learning in (smaller) corporate settings. I’ve also taught a non-credit lifelong learning course for seniors 55+ at a community college which was extremely popular.
My apologies to Michael (Roche)! I somehow inserted my initial submission under his submission. I can't see how to move it to the correct spot (here) without having to re-record my video. If I figure out how, I will make the correction. -Respectfully, Maru
Congrats on growing the family! I really enjoyed your video. I learned a lot about what you do.
I apologize for accidentally embedding my introduction within yours. I can't seem to move it without having to re-record my video.
Thanks for the warm welcome Dr. Harrington and flexibility with my tech mishap here. I really do know how to reply so it appears as my own thread/post.
Welcome Alex. Nice to meet you. I think it's wonderful that you are rounding out your PhD with teaching skills. I liked how you were able to see the Brookfield experience from both points of view. I have to admit it has been a long while since I have been in an on campus class/lecture.
Ditto Shermel. Get better soon. Since you work in the fashion district, I may be able to meet you when I visit my field office in NYC. I am actually in Washington DC and work remote.
Welcome Nilzarrel. I admire the strong educational and career paths you've taken.
Hi Bryan! I think we might have been in a prior class together but it was either very large or we got split into sections and we diverted into different ones. It's nice to get to know you better in a smaller class this semester.
