Course Syllabus

On behalf of the Teaching Assistant Project (TAP), we would like to congratulate you on your appointment as a new Teaching Assistant at Rutgers University!

The TA Project is sponsoring its annual TA Orientation, required for all new Teaching Assistants. This year, TA orientation will be available asynchronously here on Canvas. You are expected to complete the online orientation by the time classes begin: Tuesday September 6th. Completing this orientation will help you meet the high standards that Rutgers establishes for all its Teaching Assistants. There will also be multiple opportunities for synchronous online meetings with experienced TAs at Rutgers beginning in late summer and continuing through fall for TAs to get their questions answered.

Please click here to register now for TA Orientation. Within 24 hours, you will be given access to this full Canvas orientation page.

As a part of Teaching Assistant Orientation, experienced TAs explore some common issues that you can expect to encounter at Rutgers as a TA. The online presentations and materials will provide strategies for dealing with common challenges and for making your time as a TA as effective and rewarding as possible. You will have the opportunity to hear from other TAs from both within and outside of your field. Our goal is to prepare you to enter class that first day with confidence.

Please note, only those whose TA appointment has been confirmed by their graduate program should register at this time. Those who have not received a confirmation should register once their appointment is finalized.
