Overview

Welcome to class!

The first step for this course is becoming familiar with our Canvas shell and the course syllabus and layout. Here are some initial items that you should do this first week:

Become Familiar with Canvas and Course Essentials.
Read the Syllabus in Detail. Understand course late policies and ask questions, now not later. This is the time to understand if you want to commit to this course or not. If you do not believe you can follow the demands or requirements of this course, it is better to find that out before the course really gets going rather than when you're further into it.

Learning Objectives

By the conclusion of this module, you should be able to:

Extract key concepts and terms from assigned readings
Enter into dialogue with specialists in the field through reading and responding to their work
Organize and draft and original paper that presents an argument you've developed
Critique and provide useful commentary on a peers' papers
Write clearly
Utilize correct citation formatting
Engage in the writing process to revise, edit, and finalize your own paper
